Here's one of my favorite ways to dress up a table:  To create attractive, yet low cost, namecard place holders, simply collect the corks from some of your favorite bottles of wine.  As the party date approaches, simply slice off the cork and allow it to dry. Once dry, lay the wine bottle cork on its side (lengthwise) and slice off a sliver of the side of the cork so it will now lay flat on the table without rolling.  Now using a sharp knife, cut a slit across the top center of the cork.  The cork is now ready for your guest's name card to be inserted into it and placed on your table.  It not only looks great but it is a great conversation starter too!
