Adventure of Grandson Sammy's Visit With The GrandparentsPosted June 26th, 2008 by Maggie CarterSammy has stopped by to visit his grandparents, Jim and Maggie, for a couple of weeks or until we run out of entertainment. He is six years old and going to be in the first grade. He just arrived on June 24th. His sixteen year old brother Cody just went on an adventure (as Sammy calls it) to Germany for one year to be a foreign exchange student. Sammy's family had an exchange student from Germany for a year whose name is Nico. He just went home a few days ago and Cody went to live with Nico's family. So, Sammy said he needed an adventure. too. We started the day with lunch in the restaurant and then golf at one of the local golf courses. What a great age to learn to play golf. Tuesday, June 25th
Saturday, June 28th Today, Sammy enjoyed a BBQ with family and friends. He loves to do the cooking and, also, took some photography for everyone to enjoy. The photos are of him and his mother, Cyndi, the table setting with a view, and of a beautiful sunset.
Monday, June 30th It was swim day at the GrapeSeed Spa pool...what fun! One of the pictures is with friends Sammy met from Idylwild, California, who are staying in the villas and enjoying the pool after attending a wedding in wine country. Sammy's Mom and he posed for a quick pic. We all had lunch at the pool and a great time.
Saturday, July 5th Today was lunch with the family and Mom and Dad at the Vineyard Rose Restaurant on the verranda. What fun! The weather was so hot the misters were turned on to keep us cool. Then it was off to the pool at the GrapeSeed Spa.
Sunday, July 6th Disneyland!!! Yeah! Finally, Sammy got to go to Disneyland. We thought it would be very busy because of the July 4th weekend. Guess what? Not many people there. It only took 5-10 minutes to get on the rides. The only ride that was crowded was the new Toy Story ride which took 45 mintes to get on. That was Sammy's favorite...and Grandma's, too. It was a beautiful day.
Four Day WeekendPosted March 26th, 2008 by Maggie CarterWe took a four day weekend, recently, with my sister and her husband, Carolyn and Steve. We headed east to Phoenix in our car. It was such fun! We had dinner that evening at a wonderful restaurant in Scottsdale called Houstons on Scottsdale Road. The restaurant is excellent! They don't take reservations...it's first come, first served. The wait is worth it. The food is scrumptious. We toured the area and looked at the beautiful homes and, of course, we did stop at a shopping center for a little one-on-one with the stores. The next day we took off for Sedona. What a beautiful drive. Everything is red. Red rocks and red earth are the theme for the area. We took lots of pictures, which I will try to post. There was a great Mexican food restaurant in the center of town. We did alot of walking and went into many gift shops. It was time to leave and head to Flagstaff. That evening we went to Lowell Observatory. This area is 7000 feet above sea level. We got to view Saturn and two moons, Titan and Phoebe. Flagstaff was very chilly that evening and some snow on the ground. The observatory was definitely worth the visit. On our third day we went to the Grand Canyon. Jim had been there before, but the rest of us had not. I had a mental picture of the area and had seen many pictures but I wasn't really sure what to expect. Oh, my gosh! It was unbelievable! It was as though I was looking at a huge painting or a movie backdrop. It just didn't seem real. The Grand Canyon is beautiful beyond words. We drove to Las Vegas for a one night stay. What more can I say...it was a great four day weekend.
